“And God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of the earth, and every tree, in which the fruit of a tree yielding seed, to you it shall be meat (food)” –Genesis 1:29
In the beginning before the fall of man (the sin of Eve followed by Adam) God called his beloved creation of man and woman to eat raw, organic food from the earth. (Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, oils, plants, spices etc.) This IS and WAS God’s original plan for our well-being. After the fall, many things became corrupt; along with nutrition. Man became feeding on things that were dead (animals for instance) to sustain life that we were not originally designed to eat. According to Malkmus, “It wasn’t until after the flood, which covered all plant life, that God gave man permission (possibly for survival purposes because all plant life had been destroyed by the flood) to eat flesh of clean animals. (See Gen. 9:3) Interestingly, it was only after God allowed man to consume animal flesh into his physical body that we read the FIRST instance of sickness in Scripture. Man’s life span also starts to drop drastically. Within ten generations, the average lifespan of 912 year on the pure Genesis 1:29 diet before the flood, fell to 110 years on cooked, meat-based diet after the flood.” (Pg. 52)
Yes, this book is definitely all for the vegan lifestyle which to be honest…. I don’t know how I feel about it... because I LOVE CHICKEN! However, I believe the Bible to be the absolute 100% truth of how we should live our life. I can’t deny the fact that God has called all back to the basics in the Garden. Don’t you think it’s ironic that the very first picture of human kind was in a GARDEN? Don’t you think it’s even more ironic that the first sin ever committed had to do with an apple??!! Wake up my friends!!! Proper nutrition is a central yet underlying key component of God’s purpose for our life. He WANTS us to be WELL! His original plan was for us to live 900 years, but we royally screwed that up. And if we SEEK Him, he will reveal to us how to get back on track to TRUE WELLNESS.
In the next blog, I will share how I have taken this information and applied it to my own nutrition that is realistic for my own goals.
