Many of you have heard the phrase, “Jesus is my homeboy.” Well, that is very true for this girl. My personal relationship with God is the main focus of my life. It’s the reason I get up in the morning, it’s why I am able to love and be loved and it’s my biggest MOTIVATOR to keep myself healthy and happy. God sent his only son to pay the penalty for our sin so we can have life and live to the fullest! (John 10:10) God is calling all of us to wellness, because that is one of the main reasons he sacrificed for us!
When I first decided to lose weight, I had to turn to Scripture. I had to communicate with the Maker, because he knows me better than I know myself! If I was really, truly going to change my lifestyle, I had to come to grips with the reality that there are hidden insecurities in my life that were the whole reason I was over-weight. God taught me to deal with my mental state before I even started a weight-training program. If I wouldn’t have dealt with my own private hurts, I would have never been ready to lose weight the healthy way. And I find this SO TRUE for so many of the people I meet that come to me for training. In order to change your lifestyle you have to ask yourself:
- Who, what or why are you doing this….
- What are your emotional triggers? What have you not brought into the light?
- Life without war is impossible in the natural and supernatural realm. Are you ready to go to war for your health?
The brilliant theologian Oswald Chambers quotes, “Health is the balance between the physical parts of the body and all things and forces surrounding me. To maintain good health, you MUST have sufficient internal strength to fight the things that are external.” (Utmost for His Highest) This internal strength will only come from God. God arms me for battle to stand firm against the temptations and unhealthy triggers life brings. God is the NUMBER ONE reason I am healthy and I met my long-term weight loss goal. I cannot stress enough how important it is to ask yourself the hard questions about your existence. God is waiting with open arms my friends.
