I am responding to the questions posted last week from “Ask the Trainer.” This first question comes from Chloe:
What is the most important when it comes to weight loss?
Well, I could go on and on and on about this question, so I am going to keep it sweet and simple:
- Nutrition. Obviously! Having a clean, healthy intake of food is 70-80% of a weight loss journey. In order to lose weight properly and track your progress, it’s important to have three numbers. A) Caloric intake number based on your age, weight and height. B) Weight loss caloric intake number C) Net intake number. Part of my job is to help my clients set these numbers, monitor these numbers and stick to these numbers six days a week with one cheat day.
- Cardio. Of course! My clients must be in their target heart rate based on their age to help with weight loss. I also help clients set this number.
- Weight Lifting. This is where I come in! There is a specific way to train in order to lose weight. I do a form of weight training/cardio mix and/or circuit training. Every client is set up with a customized routine based on his or her individualized goals and health evaluation.
Thanks for sending in your question Chloe and I hope this helps!
