Yes, God created us to crave. However, we were made to crave God and only God. Terkeurst quotes, “ The object of our craving was never suppose to be food, or any other things people find themselves consumed by such as sex, money or significance. Consider this expression of craving: “How lovely is you dwelling place, O Lord Almighty! My souls yearns, event faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.” (Psalm 84:1-2) (Pg. 20) Becoming a man or woman of self-discipline is honoring God. God always blesses his children when we put ourselves in a position to seek Him before other worldly pleasures. Craving God is not a one-time experience; it’s a persistent and daily dedication.
If food is your reward, if it’s your joy, if it is your go-to in times of stress, sadness and even happiness than I would strongly recommend this book for you. And I’m not judging. I went through it too. There is a serious battle going on in the mind and hearts of every person walking this earth. If you believe in this battle, it’s time to pick up your sword and fight the good fight for faith! Ephesians 6:12 boldly states, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood. It is against the rulers and authorities and the powers of the dark and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” What this verse is saying we need to be more concerned with the spiritual battle than any physical battle. This war is starting with our mindset. But take heart! God has overcome! He has already won! You were made for VICTORY and God wants to be your leader in this fight.
