Truth is Power

Terkeurst presents the power of truth with the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden in the book of Genesis. She compares it to the story of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness by the Devil in the book of Matthew. Think about it for a second: what was the very first sin ever committed that created the fall of humankind? Eve ATE an apple! The very first sin had to do with food!! That’s a huge wake up call!!!  Also, before Jesus went into the desert, he fasted for 40 days and 40 nights from food and drink. But why??? Because Jesus knew he had to be focused on not falling into temptation! In order to do that, he sustained from food and water and relied solely on God. Now, I’m not saying stop eating or go on a crazy diet, but God is revealing powerful truth through these stories!! I personally believe relying on God and praying to be healed from a particular poor life style choice is the BEST way to start the process of true change. Terkeurst quotes, “The significant difference between Eve and Jesus was Eve was saturated in the object of her desire. Jesus was saturated in God’s TRUTH!” (Pg. 23) Like Jesus says, “The truth will set you free.”
